Mississippi Coalition on Black Civic Participation

Led by Debra Robinson and Stephanie Parker-Weaver, the Coalition focused heavily on registering and educating voters on the college campuses of Jackson State University and Tougaloo College, registering nearly 500 new voters. In addition, the Coalition established partnerships with seven local churches, collected voter registrations weekly from congregants, and focused targeted literature drops in low-turnout precincts with the help of 100 committed volunteers. These efforts resulted in over 2000 voters total and in precincts over-performing on Election Day, with a 200 percent increase in voter turnout. Field Partners included APRI and CBTU.
