Ohio Coalition on Black Civic Participation

Led by Petee Talley, the Ohio Unity ’08 Coalition was comprised of a diverse mix of highly motivated and dedicated individuals and organizations. The Coalition focused its efforts on Early Vote -- getting people to the polls early in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Dayton, Youngstown and Warren. Targeting 50,000 newly registered and infrequent voters through canvassing, phone banking, direct mail and online outreach, the Coalition hosted Economic Justice Forums, signed up 100 Black Church partners for Black Voter Empowerment Sundays, and recruited comedian Shang for the Unity ‘08 Vote First Campaign event in Columbus. Field Partners: APRI, CBTU, NUL.
