2014 Black Women's Roundtable Policy Forum

Sep 24, 2014 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Description:
Power of the Sister Vote in the 2014 Midterms and Beyond

This session will bring women leaders together from across the country to build upon the key policy priorities that were identified during the recent BWR dialogue and get ready to MOBILIZE the community for the MIDTERM ELECTION. The 2014 BWR Public Policy Forum Series is a follow-up to the BWR Policy Forum that was hosted at the 2013 CBCF ALC that focused on developing a unified women’s agenda for 2014-2020. This year’s BWR Policy Forum will build upon the 2013 dialogue by providing a progress report on what has been accomplished one-year later including the recent release of the 2014 BWR Report, “Black Women in the United States, 2014: Progress and Challenges” (2014 BWR Report). The BWR Forum will build upon the “What’s At Stake: A BWR Policy Agenda for 2014 & Beyond,” (What’s At Stake Agenda) that is a segment of the 2014 BWR Report. The What’s At Stake Agenda focuses on several key policy priorities including women’s rights and workers’ rights. The BWR Forum will also bring together the contributing writers of the 2014 BWR Report to share key findings on the status of Black women in the following areas: health, education, economic security, labor, retirement security, entrepreneurship, violence, criminal justice, technology and politics. BWR State Conveners will also be joining us to provide an update on the BWR Power of the Sister Vote Campaign that we are engaged in for the 2014 Mid-Term Election Cycle.
